Prenatal Massage Therapy

Can pregnant women get massages, too? Of course they can!

Pregnancy is a time in a woman’s life when a little extra relaxation is necessary. Plenty of excitement, stress and chaos comes with being pregnant and expecting a little one. Stress can be harmful to both mom and baby. Mom’s-to-be can experience a range of symptoms including anxiety, pain, swelling and sleeplessness (which I suppose is preparing mom for the sleepless nights to come). Prenatal massage therapy can be effective at reducing the physical discomforts as well as aiding in the emotional well being of pregnant women.

Massage provides an all natural and safe way to relieve common complaints during pregnancy, such as:

  • Headaches
  • Mood Swings
  • Fatigue
  • Neck/Shoulder Stiffness
  • Low Back/Hip Pain
  • Swelling of the Feet, Legs, Hands and Arms

What to Expect from a Prenatal Massage
A prenatal massage can be customized to meet each clients needs, however deep work is not done in the low-mid back area. Typically pillows are used for comfort and client is in the side-lying position (see image above) depending on how far along she is. As always the client will remain fully draped with the exception of the area being worked on. I do not charge extra for prenatal massage.

If there are complications or it is a high risk pregnancy the Dr.’s ok is required to proceed with prenatal massage, it is a good idea in general to consult with the Dr. prior to receiving massage during pregnancy.

For a limited time I will be offering a discounted package for Prenatal Massage. 9 Massages (that’s one massage a month during pregnancy or they can be received at any time) for $580, a savings of $50. What a great gift for any expectant mother in your life be it wife, daughter, best friend, or daughter-in-law! Ask about the prenatal massage package deal!
